High-Level Week Side Event during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly
Shahmama Organization is pleased to participate as one of the co-conveners of the high-level side event titled “Afghanistan Five Years On: Gender Apartheid and Accountability — Protecting the Rights of Afghan Women and Girls,” taking place during the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The event will be held on Friday, 25 September 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in Conference Room 11 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This high-level event will bring together policymakers, women’s rights advocates, human rights defenders, and representatives of civil society to examine gender apartheid in Afghanistan, the imperative of accountability, and concrete measures to protect and restore the rights of Afghan women and girls.
The event is jointly convened by:
• Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations
• FARAGEER
• Shahmama Organization
• Women’s Rights First

We believes that the systematic deprivation of the fundamental rights of Afghan women and girls requires sustained international attention, effective accountability measures, and concrete commitments to restoring their rights and freedoms.
Shahmama’s participation in this high-level event is part of its continued efforts to amplify the voices of Afghan women on international platforms and to advocate for their rights, dignity, freedoms, and equal participation in society.
